Not at Don's. His crew noticed their mistake, and were also able to diagnose that another part this other shoddy garage replaced was bad/done wrong.
Never will I bring any car anywhere else but here to Don's. I'll get the correct job done without any mistakes or BS.
In case Don's autocare people are reading this - I purposefully left the details out hoping that you guys will not identify me. And if I may add one thing, please smile! At least fake ones! :-)
Recently I've made the mistake of using another garage for a few repairs on my car - and I'm paying for it in more ways than one. This other garage completely missed that they did not assemble my suspension correctly and wanted to have me replace a motor mount ($500 job). It seemed that every time i went there, they had another $500 job that needed to be done.
2. Then came the second experience - this was actually a non-issue and I felt totally ripped off. Their logic is that regardless there is any issue or not, it takes time to inspect and that results in labor charges. I get it and it is fair! But you guys are the professionals with the right equipment. More than half the issues of any modern car can be detected by connecting to the onboard computer and based on the symptoms you are expected to know where to look. So the argument that you take 2 hours just to do a 'safety inspection' doesn't seem to fly. If a rookie mechanic takes that much time to go through a checklist to ensure that everything is fine, yes, makes sense. But the kind of professionals you are, I do not believe for a second that you will take that much time. When I asked the question, I didn't get a comprehensive answer as to what exactly you 'checked' which resulted in that much time. I was told that they cap the maximum time for safety inspection at $95 (Means, one hour max) but then my total bill was more than $160 as some other reviewer pointed out and that additional amount was attributed to 'parts'. Again, no mention of what parts!
I guess I will give them one more chance. After my first experience I thought I will directly take my car to these guys without running around getting quotes and all. But with the second experience, I guess I will still get quotes from other places before I go to Don's. And my rating will be revised based on that experience.
Awesome mechanical, I would definitely go to him.
1. First time they were very professional and fixed my issue for a much cheaper price than other places quoted. (The only issue I had was that, these guys do not seem to be 'smiling' at all; very serious guys!) I recommended their service in various forums and to my friends based on my experience.
I brought in my old Subaru because the defroster vent wasn’t working, and the team at Don’s was phenomenal. I asked a lot of admittedly stupid questions (I’m not the best with cars), and they were patient and kind in all of their answers. They took me without an appointment on a Saturday and had me out the door an hour later. Don himself gave me a quick fix that he carefully explained how to use and told me what I could do to more thoroughly fix the problem in the future if I would want to. I would definitely use Don’s again and recommend them!

Wow - I can not believe these less than 5* reviews! My family has been using Don from when he was working by himself out of a rented garage. Never in that entire time frame have we ever had an issue with his service, no matter the type of car, age of car, or condition of car. His mechanics have always been truthful, respectful and very clean.
